Shandong Urban Construction Vocational College(SUCVC) was founded in 1980. It is a state-run vocational college of higher education,integrating both full-time higher vocational education and continuing education, and is commonly supervised by Shandong Provincial Department of Education and Shandong Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-rural Development. With three campuses in Caishi, Yanshan and Wuyingshan, it covers more than 800,000 ㎡ and has construction areas of 300,000 ㎡. With more than 13,000 full-time students on campus, it has over 800 teachers for faculty and administration. The college has good teaching conditions and training infrastructure,with instruments and equipment for teaching and research worth RMB 142,900,000 Yuan. It also owns 1,015,200 books and 606,600 e-books in its library and more than 4000 computers for teaching. The college has won prestigious honours such as Nationally Advanced Institute for Education of Building Knowledge and Techniques, The Second Pilot Projects for National Apprenticeship, The First Colleges to Experiment 1+X Certificate System, Nationally Featured School in Ecological Civilization Education,Shandong Quality Higher-education Vocational College, Shandong Eminent College to Cultivate Skilled Talents, Shandong Pacesetter for School-Corporation Commonly-run Education Programs, Provincially Civilized Campus, and Provincial Garden-style Institution.

Under the aim “to cultivate successors to Great Master Luban, build beautiful cities and create happy lives”,the college has realized coordinated development of disciplines in terms of construction and architecture, environment protection and resource conservation, and urban infrastructure etc., with the majority of disciplines being in construction areas. These disciplines mean to serve district economy and industry development, help to build ecological civilization and promote green and low-carbon upgrading. Totally the college has set up 43 disciplines in 7 teaching departments. Besides, the college also has Marxist College, Department of General Education, and Department of Continuing Education and International Exchanges. The college owns 3 high-level inter-discipline groups of Shandong, 9 important inter-discipline groups of Shandong, 2 quality inter-discipline groups of Shandong, 2 Nationally-funded key disciplines, 1 pilot discipline for national apprenticeship, 4 nationally prime disciplines, 3 pilot disciplines for Shandong apprenticeship, 5 provincially characteristic disciplines, 2 provincially commonly-run engineering disciplines. The college has carried out international exchanges actively and kept up close cooperation with over 10 foreign universities and colleges such as Korean Woosong University, in terms of education, scientific research and faculty training etc.

We aim to explore new modes of internationally-run educational programs by commonly operating educational projects with foreign college and universities. We would like to build talent-cultivation systems around Shandong companies’ needs in overseas markets, and to found high-level programs in areas of architecture, protection of historical and cultural cities, and construction of green and low-carbon cities, to provide for much-needed talents in overseas construction markets.Meanwhile,we would like to sign MOU on Cooperation with foreign colleges and universities, to promote faculty training and visits, and further deepen exchanges and cooperation.

Up until now, we have three internationally-running education programs, which are Architectural Animation Technology with Woosong University of South Korea,Environmental Art and Design with Jeonju University of South Korea,Architectural Design with Sahmyook University of South Korea. Recruitment of students for the programs is incorporated into national planned enrollment. Admission is on a selective basis for candidates who are qualified to apply for vocational colleges after National College Entrance Examination. In each program,  class hours by the correspondent foreign college or university account for about one third of total class hours. After three-year study, students of each program can obtain graduation certificates awarded by Shandong Urban Construction Vocational College and then they can voluntarily apply for further education in the correspondent foreign school. After obtaining course credits stipulated by the correspondent college or university, students can be awarded bachelor’s degree by those schools, which are acknowledged by Chinese Ministry of Education.
